SwissCham Philippines and NEDA foster dialogue for economic development

SwissCham Philippines recently engaged in a productive courtesy visit with the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) to advance critical aspects of economic development and collaboration. Hosted by NEDA Secretary Arsenio M. Balisacan, the meeting addressed key sectors essential for the nation’s progress.

In the manufacturing sector, SwissCham Philippines underscored the necessity of ensuring equitable electric costs to bolster local market competitiveness. NEDA acknowledged this need and outlined collaborative efforts with relevant government agencies to streamline bureaucratic processes particularly in supporting renewable energy infrastructure development.

Within the healthcare domain, the SwissCham discussed key priorities related to medicine assessment and availability. NEDA reaffirmed its commitment to bolstering market structures especially on pricing regulation and productivity enhancements. The conversation also highlighted the important role of digitalization and technology adaptation in redefining healthcare solutions and optimizing processes.

Education emerged as a critical issue with discussions centered on upskilling and internship reform to facilitate seamless knowledge exchange within the educational landscape. Furthermore, the dialogue emphasized the importance of transparency and taxation support in improving the ease of doing business, aligning with NEDA’s agenda of fostering a conducive business environment.
