SwissCham Philippines and Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) Forge Partnership for Business Reforms
In a significant step towards fostering a more business-friendly environment, the Board of Directors of SwissCham Philippines paid a courtesy visit to the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) in Manila. Led by Secretary Ernesto Perez and Undersecretary Gerald Divinagracia, the ARTA team engaged in constructive discussions with the SwissCham delegation, comprised of top business leaders, to explore avenues for enhancing the ease of doing business in the Philippines.
During the meeting, the SwissCham Board shared its reflections and assessments of business operations in 2023, providing valuable insights that could contribute to the improvement of the local business landscape. The discussions also delved into the outlook for 2024, aiming to create a conducive environment for both domestic and foreign investors.
Secretary Perez took the opportunity to brief the SwissCham delegation on the core mandates of ARTA, emphasizing its pivotal role in implementing the Ease of Doing Business Act. He highlighted various initiatives undertaken by ARTA to reduce, and if possible, eliminate bureaucratic red tape, fostering a more investor-friendly atmosphere. Secretary Perez outlined ARTA’s ambitious vision to digitalize all business applications and processes, ultimately streamlining operations and enhancing government efficiency.
This strategic partnership aims to jointly implement crucial business reforms that will not only simplify procedures for businesses but also promote and strengthen trade and investments between the Philippines and Switzerland.
