Navigating Legislative Priorities and Strengthening Swiss-Philippine Ties

The Embassy of Switzerland in the Philippines invited Honorable Secretary Mark Llandro Mendoza, Presidential Adviser on Legislative Affairs and Head of the Presidential Legislative Liaison Office (PLLO) for an insightful luncheon briefing on the Key Updates on the Legislative Priorities of the Philippine Government last 18 September 2024 at the Official Swiss Residence. 

Together with members of the Swiss Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines, the event highlighted the value of public-private partnerships in promoting economic development. Ambassador Nicolas Bruhl welcomed the guests and the keynote speaker while Secretary Mendoza outlined the Philippine government's legislative priorities, starting with the Medium-Term Fiscal Framework (MTFF). 

Secretary Mendoza likewise underscored the importance of the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) in ensuring synergies in the priorities of the government such as fiscal reforms, enhancing governance standards, accelerating digital transformation, boosting agricultural productivity, managing natural resources more effectively, and promoting investment. 

SwissCham Philippines Director of Operations Kent Marjun Primor moderated the open forum and encouraged the Swiss business community to take an active role in shaping the economic policy landscape. 

In closing, SwissCham Philippines Board of Director Daniela San Agustin emphasized the value of sustained dialogue between the public and private sectors to foster a progressive and dynamic business community and reaffirmed the Chamber’s commitment to fostering economic progress through collaboration and dialogue.
